LUBOK ANTU, Thursday - A total of 236-recipient of Batang Ai constituency received their welfare assistance in an event held in Lubok Antu recently.
The number involved an amount of more than 54-thousand ringgit which includes assistance for senior citizen, children, allowance for disabled employees as well as general assistance.
Present for the handing over of cash assistance was Member of Parliament for Lubok Antu, William Nyalau Badak.
Meanwhile, William when ask to comment on Batang Ai by-election said the Barisan Nasional, BN has a bigger chances to win the seat though opposition party opt for five term former Lubok Antu Parliamentary member, Jawah Gerang.
He believed voters in Batang Ai particularly the supporters of Jawah will cast their votes to BN as they know they will get nothing if they go for opposition.
Earlier in her speech, State Director of Welfare Department, Kendy Edward told that the department had received about 800-application from the people of Batang Ai registered under the “Program Cari” or also known as “Program E-Kasih”.
The program is to identify poor people so as to be given assistance from the government.
Kendy said as at present the department had received more than 25-thousand application under the program statewide.
